ARM LIFT (BRACHIOPLASTY)

Sags occur on back and inner parts of the arm due to aging, intermittent weight loss and gravity. Arm lift surgery (brachioplasty) can be performed alone, or it can be performed in combination with other body contour correction surgeries (abdomen lift, breast reduction or augmentation and thigh lift).
In post-surgical assessment, the adipose tissue amount on back and inner parts of the arm and the sagging degree are considered. Additionally, patient is informed about the post-surgery wound scar in detail. Wound scar differ among the people in terms of width and swelling after the arm lift surgery as with all other surgeries.
Fats on that area can be removed through liposuction provided that tissues still preserve their freshness. However, if there is also skin loosing depending on the increased age, liposuction would not be a correct preference; in this case, the suitable method is to ablate the excessive fats together with excessive skin and provide normal skin tightness. Since the skin excess is removed, a scar occurs across the incised line in a length equal to the removed skin. This scar is designed to remain on the arm surface contacting to the body near to the back side so that it is not seen when looked from the front or back side.
Surgery is carried out under general anesthesia and takes approx. 2 hours. The time of staying at the hospital is 1 day. Recovery period varies considerably according to the person and full recovery is achieved approx. within 10 to 15 days. Such a time is also required for the person to return to work. Works requiring strength and sport movements can be started after 4 weeks.
