BREAST AUGMENTATION

Breasts may become smaller for reasons such as pregnancy, lactation, aging, etc, or breasts cannot reach to certain largeness in some women after puberty or they may be asymmetric. Now, women can have fuller, larger, aesthetically good-looking breasts thanks to the breast augmentation surgeries which is one of the most preferred and popular surgeries today. For the cases where the breasts are apparently sagged, it may be necessary to combine the breast augmentation surgery with mastopexy.
There are several surgical intervention methods used in breast augmentation. The most frequently used technique is the lower breast incision performed slightly above the area where upper breast part joins with the thorax or the semicircle-shaped areola surrounding incision performed across the lower border of the dark colored skin around the nipple (areola). Prostheses can also be placed from the belly button or armpit, however these are not performed much around the world due to high complication rates and negative results. Prosthesis is decided to be placed under the breast tissue or muscle according to patient’s breast structure.
Breast prostheses do not cause allergic reaction, have no toxic effects and not lead to cancer. Furthermore, they do not prevent lactation and cancer screening. Silicone implant rupture which we have heard much on magazines and stuck in our minds is almost never experienced today.
Dressing is applied to breasts and a special bra is worn after the surgery. It is recommended to wear this bra for 3 weeks. You should avoid from lifting heavy things for 3 to 4 weeks and heavy exercises. Many women will return to their daily lives within 1 week.
