CELLULITE
Cellulite actually means cutaneous and subcutaneous infection in medicine. However, the usage of the word cellulite in cosmetic field is very different. Cellulite is a disorder which occurs as a result of the deterioration in flexible fiber structure with the circulatory impairment in cutaneous and subcutaneous tissue for genetic or hormonal reasons and particularly observed in women. It is mostly encountered on hip, calf and leg area.
Fat accumulation in tissues causes circulatory problems and edema. In that case, it increases fat agglomeration and causes fibrous adhesions around it. These fibrous adhesions pull the skin down and cause to node formations in subcutaneous adipose tissue. As a result, “orange peel appearance” occurs on the skin.
Cellulite is attempted to be treated with different methods currently. Cellulite creams, cellulite lotions, ultrasound, electro-lipolysis, lypolisis, ozone, carboxytherapy and massage are some of those methods.
In surgical treatment, superficial liposuction and lipofilling methods are used successfully in cellulite treatment. With superficial liposuction, excessive fat accumulation near to the skin on cellulite areas is removed. Additionally, the fibrous adhesions pulling the skin down are separated with special cannulae and the orange peel appearance on the skin is eliminated. A smoother shape can be given to the depressed areas, if any, on the cellulite areas by lipofilling.
